One of the great blessings associated with Holly’s improved health and energy level is that we are now able to host people to our home for times of fellowship, food, prayer, singing, and fun! Over the summer, I think nearly each week we had some family or families to our home for a meal, a campfire, and a time together that was hopefully encouraging and God-honoring.
Holly did a fabulous job most times at preparing all the food. Allie led us in song on her ukulele, and I usually led a prayer time. Stories were told, much laughter ensued, and memories were created. S’mores were also an essential part of every campfire. Holly frequently quoted Romans 12:13 that urges believers to “practice hospitality.” She would say that it doesn’t tell us to be perfect at hospitality, but to practice it.
While we are hoping to continue inviting various groups of people to our home, weather in the Pacific Northwest will force us to move inside more often than not. Yet that won’t dampen our spirits as we continue to celebrate God’s goodness and grace in our lives.
