This past week, Holly and I traveled NOT to Africa but to South Carolina (which cost almost as much as a trip to Africa!) for the Africa division conference. The last one was four years ago, so we really needed to connect with many of our colleagues who work in Africa. Since I am the Africa director for Pathways Bible Training, my presence was important and God blessed that time.
Despite frequent rainstorms and warm, humid conditions, we meaningfully connected with many key partners and were able to make good progress in advancing relationships, charting a course for the future, and encouraging many who serve God in Africa. Holly made many helpful connections related to her prayer ministry as she encouraged and prayed with a number of the women. On the way, she even met with a dear Ghanian lady in Charlotte who does a similar work to what Holly does, and they were able to strategize how their ministries could collaborate together.
One of my highlights was meeting with Africa division leadership and sensing much growth in the direction we are heading together. A number of ReachGlobal leaders were also present, so we were able to strategize how to move forward in corollary areas such as offering Bible training for pre-deployed staff. Brian Duggan explained the ReachGlobal Framework which wraps up who we are and what we do.
All in all, it was a beneficial time, and having Holly with me made it all the sweeter. So we press on, in Africa and globally, equipping God’s people to handle His Word well.
