Stateside work is still part of global missions

This past week, shortly after returning from trainings in Nigeria and Liberia, my Pathways work resumed but this time domestically. First, I flew to Minneapolis to meet with our Servant Leadership Team, the group of Pathways leaders who are responsible for the direction of our Pathways ministry and writing our Pathways curricula. Steve, Mike, Matt, and I are very different in personalities, but we share a common passion for getting God’s Word into the hearts and minds of ministry leaders globally. It is a joy to work with these brothers, and by God’s grace and with the Spirit’s help we were able to make some good progress in several important areas, including discussions of an oral version of our material with an expert in converting curricula to be more orally-oriented. Much work ahead for us, but the journey is exciting!

While we were in Minneapolis, we met with Patrice and Nadege Tchagang, a delightful ministry couple from northern Cameroon who are doing incredibly significant ministry in their region. Their particular focus and my growing areas of interest so perfectly coincide that we could all see the hand of God in our meeting. I can’t wait to join this couple and work in partnership with them.

A day after I returned, a group of pastors and ministry leaders from the Pacific Northwest gathered at our home church and I led them through our final stateside workshop which focuses on the “Whole Story of the Bible.” There was great growth, lively discussions, and a fresh vision spread through the group for how to use this training in local churches. Beyond that, several from the group approached me that they are eager to participate with us and equip ministry leaders globally with healthy skills in handling the Word. I was truly encouraged by their engagement and their eagerness to use and spread Pathways.

Rather than me doing all the teaching, we equip our participants to facilitate the trainings, like Pastor Jeff is doing here. Then they are empowered to take the training to many others.
