For today, I thought it would be fun to have Holly share the blog entry. So here she is:

Well, we have been here over a year.  Some things are getting easier and in a way some things are getting harder.  I am learning how to get around and how to communicate with the nationals.  I understand more about the culture and our family is starting to feel that this is home.  On the other hand,  some of the things about living here are starting to wear on me.  It’s kind of like Chinese water torture.  When there is this slow drip on your forhead you can handle it for awhile and you don’t really think about it.  But then after hours and hours you realize that it is really driving you crazy!  Life here is so very different than my world view and for the first year it was all new and I accepted it.  But now little things are starting to wear on me. Smoke in my house everyday from the burning garbage outside my house.  The smell of plastic burning in the garbage.  Electricity going out randomly for several hours on any given day.  MOSQUITOS.

I’m sure by this time next year I will be over it and these things won’t bother me anymore.  Then again they might.  Regardless, I know this is where we should be and I feel at peace being here.  So, no matter what little things come my way I am willing to work through them and press on.  When the little things of life are driving you crazy too, we can remember each other, pray for God to grant us patience, and dream of the day when there will be no more drips of water.

Blessings to you, Holly.
