A close African friend of mine is Michael Titus. He has a passion for equipping leaders in youth ministry, and I wanted to share his testimony with you.
Michael was brought up in a family where his father was nominal Christian, but his mother was a very strong Muslim, and she led the family in her beliefs. When Michael was 17 years old he was studying to be a leader in the Madrassah (Muslim school).
Then one night he had a dream. Many cars were driving by him, singing Christian praise songs and in his heart he truly desired to join them, but one by one they kept speeding by with no room for him – each car was completely full. He longed to get into the car with them, but as each car drove passed he was disappointed. Then, finally, the last car came, and stopped, and the people inside said there was just one seat left, and invited him to join them. Overjoyed, he jumped into the seat and began singing with the rest praise songs to God.
Following this, Michael knew God was calling him to follow Christ, so he placed his faith in Christ and began studying the Bible and the ways of Christ. He began preaching the Gospel and Muslims began coming to Christ, and he continued to work with them to disciple them and ground them in the Word.
Michael has worked at planting churches, doing evangelism, and he is now working with J-Life Africa (a Christian youth organization similar to SonLife) to raise up youth leaders to reach the many young people in Tanzania.
Please keep Michael and his wife Monica and their two children in your prayers. Michael and Monica are participating in our monthly trainings, and Michael and I frequently meet with other leaders to do trainings together and to cast a vision for what needs to be done to transform Africa. Michael and Monica also run a small bakery in their home as a means of supporting their family and their ministry.
Pressing on with our African partners, Eric
