Cairo Connection

Dear ministry partners,

In just a few days I leave for Egypt, the next location where I will be launching a new Pathways network, equipping pastors in how to study, understand, and teach God’s Word well. I would truly appreciate your prayers for this trip as there have been some significant challenges already leading me to think our enemy does not want a network established there. I’m thankful God is so much more powerful than any enemy.

Here is a bit about the trip with some specific prayer requests:

Overview: I will be joined by retired pastor Mark (from Jefferson City, MO) for this launch of a new network in Cairo, Egypt.

Dates: December 6-14, 2024.

Itinerary:

  • Dec. 6-7 – Fly to Cairo.
  • Dec. 8 – Preach in churches and prepare for training.
  • Dec. 9-12 – Train 16 ministry leaders in Pathways workshop #1.
  • Dec. 13-14 – Final meetings post training and fly home.

Prayer points:

  1. This network has been particularly challenging in several ways. Both in the pre-launch conference nine months ago, and in the many discussions and emails since that time, it seems the enemy is trying to block this network from starting. However, the local leadership and I are committed, and God is able to overcome any challenges. Please pray for a successful, united launch.
  2. Pray for the local coordinator, Pastor Ashraf, as well as my training partner, Pastor Mark, who will be taking over the network after I launch it. Pray we can set a good, sustainable, reproducible plan in place for the future.
  3. Pray for the master trainers (hopefully Egyptians and Sudanese) as Egypt has experienced unprecedented inflation and economic hardship over the past year. Their presence is a financial sacrifice. Arabic interpreters are also expensive.
  4. Pray that I will be particularly perceptive about cultural distinctives with this group. They are NOT Africans, they are Egyptians, and I must carefully and graciously acknowledge that distinction in all we say and do.
  5. As always, please keep Holly in your prayers while I am away.
