Ministry in the Pacific Northwest

Holly and I definitely are back “in the saddle” following our sabbatical, and we’ve “hit the ground running.” (I have to use these American idioms when I can, cause they sure don’t work overseas.) October 26-27 we were at Yacolt Evangelical Free Church for their missions emphasis weekend, and we had a great time speaking four different times to the congregation. We were joined by a few other missionaries, and the theme was “Pastors training pastors” from 2 Timothy 2:2. It was right up our alley, so I gave PPT presentations, preached a couple times, and fielded many questions from the group.

Then, November 1-2, we conducted the largest Pacific Northwest Pathways training we’ve ever had.

We had a great time digging into God’s Word with other pastors and ministry leaders!
26 leaders gathered for our Pathways training.
Food supplied by LCF was amazing!

26 pastors and ministry leaders ranging from southern Oregon to northern Washington gathered together at our home church here in Olympia for two amazing days going through Pathways workshop #1 (Jonah). We even had the Pacific Northwest district superintendent from the Evangelical Free Church of America with us!

The interaction was lively and engaging, the food supplied by Littlerock Community Fellowship was incredible, and we all had a blast growing in Bible study skills.

Working in small groups provides in depth interaction leading to growth.

Because the group was so large, we broke into smaller groups and my partner Jeremy helped me with aspects of the training. I received many responses that folks are eager to pass on the training and continue with workshop #2.

Between rainstorms, we headed outside for a fun group activity communicating the power of multiplication.

Then on November 3 Holly and I headed north to Poulsbo where I was invited to preach at Olympic Evangelical Free Church, and also meet with their mission team. We made great connections again with this church we’ve spoken at before, and again fielding the questions from the mission team and leadership was so fun as we shared about the amazing work God is doing globally.

It’s fun to engage in these ministry opportunities with Holly by my side. Soon I’ll be heading to Malawi to work with our network of pastors there. Thank you for your prayers!
